Sampling Error

Statisticians often use sample data to estimate the value of population parameters. However, samples do not include all of the elements of a population. As a result, sample estimates of population parameters are often incorrect.

Sampling error refers to the error attributable to using only a subset of the population (i.e., sample data) to estimate population parameters.
