Randomization
Randomization refers to the
practice of using chance methods (random number tables, flipping a
coin, etc.) to assign subjects to treatments.
In this way, the potential effects of
lurking variables
are distributed at chance levels (hopefully roughly evenly)
across treatment conditions.
